Tuesday, December 02,
2008
In class: Finished The Unit Circle. Began WS Introduction to Trig Functions.
Homework: Do p 406, #3, 9, 17, 21, 29, 31, 35-49 odd. We will have the first “mad minute” quiz on Monday.
Wednesday, December
03, 2008
In class: Returned tests. Reviewed homework. Did WS Introduction to Trig Functions, #1-3.
Homework: Do p 416, #5, 11-21 odd, 27-35 odd. We will have the first “mad-minute” quiz on Monday. The test error analysis problems are due Friday. We will have a quiz over Sections 5.1 and 5.2 on Tuesday.

In class: Collected test
error analysis problems. Took HW
quiz. Reviewed the
Homework: Practice for the “mad-minute”. Finish WS Introduction to Fundamental Trig Identities. We will have a quiz over Sections 5.1 and 5.2 on Wednesday.
Monday, December 08,
2008
In class: Took mad-minute quiz. Reviewed WS Introduction to Fundamental Trig Identities. Began graphing y = cos t.
Homework: do p 417, #45-69 odd. Finish the graph of y = cos t. We will have a quiz on Wednesday over Sections 5.1 and 5.2.
Tuesday, December 09,
2008
In class: Returned mad-minute quizzes. Reviewed homework. Did graph of y = sin t. Compared the sine and cosine graphs. Introduced using transformations to the period and the amplitude of a graph. Did first six problems of WS Graphs of Sinusoids.
Homework:
· Prepare for tomorrow’s quiz over Sections 5.1 and 5.2.
· Do p 429, #7, 19, and 23. Be sure to graph two cycles for each graph.
· We will have a homework quiz tomorrow.
· The next mad-minute will be on Thursday.
· The chapter test will be next Wednesday, Dec. 17. This is a Day F so you will have a double period for the test.
Wednesday, December
10, 2008
In class: Took HW quiz. Took quiz. Did T Identity or Crisis.
Homework: None. Mad-minute tomorrow. The chapter test has been moved to next Thursday, not Wednesday.
Thursday, December
11, 2008
In class: Took second mad-minute quiz. Looked at examples of how to shift sinusoids vertically. Began looking at examples of graphs involving phase shifts.
Homework: Do p 429, #11, 25, 27, and 31. Problems 11 and 25 involve a vertical shift as well as changes to the amplitude and period. Problems 27 and 31 involve a phase shift (horizontal shift). For both of them, use an x-scale of pi/2. We’ll talk more on Monday about how to determine the x-scale when graphing a phase-shift.
Note: Next Thursday, we will have a quiz rather than a test. I have moved the test until the first Friday after Winter Break. This is an F day, a double period.

Monday, December 15,
2008
In class: Returned various papers. Reviewed both p 429 assignments. Reviewed how to determine the scale and sketch the graph of a sinusoid with a phase shift.
Homework: Do WS Graphs of Sinusoids, the bottom 6 problems. In the textbook, do p 429, #41-47 odd. We will have a quiz on Thursday over graphing trig functions. We will have the chapter test on Thursday, January 8, 2009 after the break. The last mad-minute quiz will also be after the break.
Tuesday, December 16,
2008
In class: Reviewed homework, especially how to find the equation from a given graph. Introduced graphing the remaining 4 trig functions.
Homework: Do p 441, #1-6, 15-21 odd.
Wednesday, December
17, 2008
In class: Reviewed homework, especially how to determine the x-scale. Worked on p 441, #23, 27, 35, 41, 43, and 51.
